GENESIS: Ray!! No fuckin’ way! Where have you been?!
(I suddenly realize I need to get out more.)
GENESIS: Guess what? I quit the industry! No more Genesis Skye. You can call me by my real name — Michelle.
RAY: I remember that name… You left it on my voicemail once.
MICHELLE: Haha! That’s right. I said it by accident because I was back home visiting family. I remember thinking oh shit! You were probably like who the fuck is this?!
RAY: I catch-on pretty quickly.
MICHELLE: Right on. So I’m going to be doing make-up on shoots. I’m learning how to do that now.
RAY: Wait… Aren’t you “hosting” this party tonight?
MICHELLE: Haha, yeah! They gave me my own fucking table and everything — and I’m not even talent any more! How funny is that?
RAY: Funny enough. So what made you decide to quit?
MICHELLE: I was turning into somebody I wasn’t. Porn fucked with my head. I was making tons of money and blowing it on stupid shit. So I’m trying to get my life back. I want to get myself together so I can work on my singing career. I broke a deal with Alta Vista, they’re a newer record company. I’m going to be working on my first CD!
RAY: Awesome. What kind of music?
MICHELLE: Country! I still go to PSK. You need to come down there!
I meet Michelle’s new boyfriend.
MICHELLE: He’s fucking wonderful. It’s so nice to hear someone tell you that you’re beautiful for what’s inside — And not just say that you’re “sexy” or “hot”.
RAY: True.
I’m happy for Michelle, but Genesis will be missed.
To me, she will forever be that fun, sexy nurse I partied with on Halloween.
… And the girl who always looked best in my cowboy hat.
Later, as we’re sobering-up on the patio…
MICHELLE: Ray! I totally forgot — I’m fuckin’ mad at you!
RAY: You’re not the first girl to say that tonight.
MICHELLE: Remember that one time I called you from Wisconsin and told you about all that shit people were talking on XPT? And you printed what I said about the porn fans?
RAY: Oh yeah… I remember thinking that was funny.
MICHELLE: Dude! I caught a lot of shit for that!
RAY: I’m sorry. I didn’t mean any harm.
MICHELLE: It’s okay. I still love you.
* Addendum: Shortly after our chat, Michelle (pka Genesis) posted this message on XPT: “This whore might be coming back sooner than expected! The only difference is that I plan to change the way I do my scenes. I want more control of what I’m doing. There’s things I do in my scenes that don’t turn me on but I do them because it’s my job. I don’t want to do that anymore. I know that I have the right to say no to things, but I’m stupid. I admit to that. A lot of us girls do things we’d never do off camera simply because we’re afraid to stand up for ourselves. I also quit doing all drugs including smoking pot. I’m going to completely turn my life around and be the person I was when I got in. When I make my return I’m sure you’ll all be happy with the changes!”
