Photos from the XFANZ / Dave Novarro Burlesque Party
by Ray | Thursday, November 30th, 2006HOLLYWOOD, CA — Candles flickered, drinks flowed, girls danced and The Panic Channel played to a packed house for the XFANZ Rocks Burlesque Show at the Dragonfly in Hollywood.
More than 500 fans and adult stars, directors and industry members crowded into the Dragonfly club for the formal XFANZ launch party, featuring headline act Dave Navarro on guitar for his band The Panic Channel. The event raised approximately $2,000 for ASACP and the Free Speech Coalition.
KSEX Radio’s Tony Batman greeted stars for XFANZ interviews as they walked the red carpet that led inside.
“The mainstream rock-and-roll turnout was just as good as the porn turnout,” Batman told XFANZ. “And that was fun for us porn workers to look at. Navarro rocked — his acoustic set just stopped the room.”
Navarro took the stage toward the end of the night to cheers and a blinding barrage of camera flashes. Hundreds of Navarro’s fans crowded the stage to get a look at the rock star, who wore a dark green tank top that showed off a latticework of tattoos that covered his arms.
The burlesque dancers included Sunny Lane, Lisa Ann and Jenna Presley, who danced to songs by Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and Marilyn Manson, whose cover of “Tainted Love” accompanied Presley’s number.
Ann called the night a success.
“I had an awesome time,” said Ann, who hopped on a plane to Boise, Idaho., a few hours after the show for a dance engagement. “I can’t wait until XFANZ has another event.”
XFANZ Managing Director Alan Hawkins hosted the show, which also featured comedians Rick Overton, Michael Gelbart and Flip Shultz, who performed as his alter ego, Vaudeville-era funnyman Skippy Greene. All of the comics faced a rough and rowdy crowd.
“The comics did the very best they could, but it really wasn’t an appropriate venue for their style of comedy,” Hawkins said.
But the show was a hit, all the way to early Thursday morning, when Kurt Lockwood and his band, The Porn City Punks, took the stage for a killer set that included several original tracks and an excellent extended cover of “I Wanna Be Sedated.”
Photos from the Phallix & Cousin Stevie Party
by Ray | Monday, February 20th, 2006There was this Valentine’s Day party… A very SEXY and fun private party, thrown at a super-secret location in the Hollywood Hills. Rick Plank, owner of Phallix Glass shared the evening with Cousin Stevie, who was celebrating his birthday. There was an open bar, ice sculptures, loud music, moments of joy & regret, and expensive food being served by naked ladies. Does that work for you?
Well, too bad. Cuz not everyone was invited. The catch was you had to bring girls and you had to wear sexy lingerie.
(I did neither.)
Mainstreamers included Hal Sparks of Talk Soup and Queer As Folk, and Russell Mitchell of Exile Cycles on the Discovery Channel.
Tee Reel showed-up to support my theory that he is everywhere, every night, for at least 15 minutes. Gram Ponante also arrived, looking quite dapper — a charge that he usually enjoys leveling at me.
When we were in Vegas, Gram confided that I had the “best looking” adult news site. But secretly, I don’t believe him. (Not because I think he’s a liar, but because I had a shitty childhood.)
Photos from the Badass Models Party
by Ray | Wednesday, February 15th, 2006Nuttin’ but a Badass party… party…
Why aren’t most of these people pictured? You can thank SoCo & Johnny Walker for that.
(And Amber… And Hailey… And my nagging lack of self-control…)
What the fuck took me so long to post these? Hey, asshole! Things take time on a free site. I’ve been busy making deals, spreading light, and becoming powerful. What have you been up to?
For the real re-cap, I give you Bad Ass Frank.
It was his night. And it rocked.
More Photos from the 2006 Adult Expo
by Ray | Saturday, January 28th, 2006Man is it great to be alive on planet earth or what? Well, maybe not if you live in Iran or some fascist shithole. But look at these fucking photos! Do they make you want to live some place where it’s illegal to get fingered? Not me!
Oh and let’s get this out of the way — April Storm threw the best party in Vegas. Pure Play Media’s VIP Room at TAO was the shit. To me, it’s not really a “party” unless it’s full of hot, slutty girls, a well-stocked open bar, and lots of hot, slutty girls. And April delivered. Plus there were gift bags and free blowjobs!
Kidding. There were no gift bags.
April Storm Interview
by Ray | Thursday, September 8th, 2005RAY: So what’s new in April’s world?
APRIL: I always have lots to plug. Michael Ninn’s Catherine is coming out.
RAY: That looks cool as hell.
APRIL: Did you watch the trailer?
RAY: Yes. Awesome.
APRIL: He’s an amazing man, and Catherine is an amazing big-budget feature. They shot it in Budapest and L.A. and they actually shot it on film. Seymore Butts and Cousin Stevie are just starting the fourth season of Family Business. Simon Wolf has a new video line coming out called Kinky Sex. Which will be fun. We’ll be having a release party for that. You’ll have to come.
RAY: If I’m invited.
APRIL: Um, excuse me — I always invite you.
RAY: Yeah, I guess. So when are you going to make a video?
APRIL: The only place you will see me on video is behind-the-scenes; either on Seymore Butts or as a judge in Cousin Stevie’s Pussy Party.
So You Wanna Date a Porn Star?
by Ray | Thursday, September 8th, 2005Carl Hart writes: What guy hasn’t fantasized about dating a porn star? Well, maybe a couple‚ but they certainly aren’t visiting THIS SITE. There has always been an incredible allure to the women in the adult film industry. That’s what makes it such a successful business. But where does the fantasy veer from the reality? Well, unfortunately the reality bears very little resemblance to the scenarios played out on countless DVDs and adult websites. In fact, if truth be told, the numerous times I have exposed myself to the cute pizza delivery girls has YET to result in a sweaty tryst, awkwardly hunched over the couch. But, I’m starting to think pepper spray makes a damn fine aftershave.
I thought I would ask some people who work in the industry for some insight.
Have you dated anyone who was ever freaked out, or intimidated by what you do?
April Storm (Mama Tush on Showtime’s Family Business) and Publicist for Pure Play Media: Yes, unfortunately I have. People seem to have this visual that just because I work in the adult industry that I’m working around naked people and everyone is fucking around the office all day long. I hate to burst any bubbles because that visual sounds fun (hell, who wouldn’t want to work in an environment like that?) The adult industry is run just like any other business… Why do you think it’s such a successful business? We certainly wouldn’t be as large as we are if there weren’t people working behind the scenes doing the ‘normal office’ work (and clothing protects us from painful paper cuts in those unmentionable places.)
Getting Kinky at Rokbar

by Ray | Friday, July 22nd, 2005I know… The show was a month ago. You’ve been waiting patiently. And now, your wait is over.
You’ll notice that I get the shots most reporters miss. I leave the cliché “stage shots” to those other news sites. The path less traveled — That’s what you can expect here.
(It’s also because I showed-up late and couldn’t get a spot up front.)
But here for your amusement, in all their drunken glory, are the rising stars of tomorrow — Provided they can build a career before succumbing to the temptations that surround them. (Which are, of course, nurtured by YOU, dear fans, and the sleazy photographers who egg them on.)
It’s a viscious, viscous cycle. Glad you’re a part of it.
Among those who showed-up: Alexis Redd, April Storm, Bill Margold, Candi Summers, Genesis Skye, Jenny Hendricks, Keiko, Cindy Sterling, Lauren Phoenix, Luscious Lopez, Miss Meadow, Penny Flame, Max Hardcore, Ron Jeremy, and Sierra Sinn.
